Spanish

Our comprehensive Spanish language program is a unique strength of St. Philip the Apostle school. Spanish instruction begins in TK and continues up through eighth grade. The main goal of our program is to provide students with meaningful, context-rich opportunities to hear and use Spanish while developing gradually complex language skills throughout students’ years of study.

Another important goal is for learners to gain a cultural appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures. Our program is designed to present the Spanish language in a meaningful context through everyday, social and cultural scenarios by means of oral communicative activities, games, songs, and simulations aided with diverse means of technology.

By the time they graduate eighth grade, our students are able to read and discuss a novel in Spanish, and many are able to start high school with advanced Spanish standing.
