What is Curriculum?

Curriculum is viewed as all guided experiences of the child under the direction of the school. The mission of the school, our philosophy, and Student Learning Expectations are all integrated into a comprehensive experience that seeks to provide a life long framework of learning and experience for our students. In partnership with families, St. Philip the Apostle school seeks to contribute to the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical growth of our students.

Standards-based

The curriculum at St. Philip the Apostle is standards-based TK through eighth grade. Standards describe what students should know and be able to do. We use the California State Common Core Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics. Similarly, our religion curriculum is based on the recently updated Los Angeles Archdiocesan Standards. Text resources are selected based on their compliance with these standards. Music, Art, Physical Education, and Spanish classes follow the Visual and Performing Arts, Health and Physical Education, and World Languages standards adopted by the state of California.
